City started attacking the Watford end and won a corner within a minute, which came to nothing.
Despite City being in total control for the first 10 minutes, a break from De La Feu ended in a one-on-one. With Ederson, who made a great save with his legs, and the ball went out of play for a corner.
The Blues’ first real chance came in the 26th minute. Raheem Sterling broke through the middle, but his shot was blocked, the ball looped into the air, David Silva challenged and headed the ball backwards, Sterling first to the ball headed back to the feet of Silva, Just on the angle of the 6 yard box, and the diminutive Spanish ‘magician’ placed the ball low past the Watford Keeper Goes to make it 1-0. It was Silva’s first goal in 27 games.
From that point, It was total dominance for Pep’s side. And that dominance turned to another goal in the 38th minute, Bernardo Silva picking the ball up about 35 yards out put in a low cross to the far post where Gabriel Jesus inside the six yard box managed to flick the ball past Gomes, as the ball went over the line Sterling, following up, smacked the ball into the net, however camera’s confirmed later it would be Jesus who was the scorer.
Just one minute later, Mahrez produced a mazey dribble inside the 18-yard box, and then hit a fantastic shot, but the Watford custodian made a great save.
At the half-time whistle. It was 2-0 to City. It could have been so much more, and now they were very close to the domestic treble, which had never been achieved before.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first, City in total control. And then in the 55th minute Off went Mahrez and on came Kevin De Bruyne, Something, I’m sure, the Watford players and fans didn’t want to see, and just six minutes later, the Blues broke from their own half And on a two on one attack, Sterling Crossed the ball onto the edge of the area for Kevin De Bruyne, who was totally unmarked, And he sidestepped the keeper, and walked the ball into the net for a fantastic goal.
If it wasn’t all over now, it certainly was in the 68th minute. Kevin De Bruyne put Jesus free on the left, he ran onto the ball And as Gomez dived, he passed the ball underneath the keeper’s body easily into the net from 10 yards. The Cup was City’s, and so was the treble but what would the score be the end?
Nine minutes from time it was 5-0! Bernardo Silva on the left wing hit in a low cross that beat everyone apart from Sterling, who came in at the far post and just tapped it in from less than six yards.
Amazingly, in the 87th minute Sterling scored again. This time It was a right wing cut back from De Bruyne, who was now running the show, and a Silva shot was initially saved it on to the post but rebounded to Sterling who tapped the ball over the line.
And so City equalled the 116 year record For the best score in an FA Cup Final, 6-0!
