PETER GARDNER'S "VERDICT" FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 15TH SEPTEMBER 1973 City, surviving a tremendous amount of luck at Leicester today, saw their fortune run out in the 77th minute when Keith Weller shot the home side ahead. But four minutes later the breaks again went for the Blues as Colin Bell scored the equaliser. Three times in the first half, and on at least two more occasions in the second, the Blues were lucky to hold out. Skipper Tony Book marked his comeback with a fine goal-line clearance and Joe Corrigan rapped back at his critics by making a string of superb saves.
