With only Ireland, Zabaleta, Petrov and Bojinov expected to appear in Mark Hughes first Premiership 18, City fell behind to an excellent free-kick from Alexander Ludwig. After the break Valeri Bojinov pounced on to a pass from Weiss to score the equaliser, and there were promising displays down the right from Kieran Trippier and Vlad Weiss.
