it’s hard to believe just a month or so ago this City team had aspirations of qualifying for Europe, but now had faded into, at best, mid-table obscurity.
They were very poor at the Vetch Field in a game descibed by the Guardian as a “2-0 massacre”. Disappointed City boss John Bond proclaimed “We are just not good enough at the moment. Swansea were so much better than us for quality and variation”.
The game was over before half-time, a 30 yard cracker from Stanley opened the scoring for Swansea after just 12 minutes, the nine minutes before the break Latchford converted Robbie James’ cross.
The only real chance for City came when the game was goalless, a Kevin Bond header from a corner was cleared off the line by Rajkovic.
