RODNEY MARSH SHOW’S HOW EASY IT WAS TO SCORE CITY’S SECOND
.
Tony Book included, previously out of favour, Geoff Hammond to fill the right back spot, which free’d up Alan Oakes to be pushed back into midfield, so City could play with a more traditional 4-4-2 formation, with Tommy Booth partnering Dave Watson. In addition Book included 19 year old trialist Billy Telford to partner Joe Royle up top.
Royle was the star of the show, getting the slightest touch to Tommy Booth’s goal-bound header to claim City’s opener in the seventh minute, and he perhaps should have scored a hat-trick with further chances, one which hit the woodwork.
City looked more of a balanced unit with Hammond filling the right back spot, and he almost scored himself when he also hit the woodwork.
Billy Telford worked hard along side Royle and may have just done enough to earn a second chance in the side.
