DENNIS TUEART MY DREAM GAME
Says Tueart: “We got a flying start In the League game with Geoff Hammond tearing in to give us the boost of a quickie in the opening minutes. Just before halftime I got my first from the penalty spot after their centre half, Pat Howard, had pushed Joe Royle.” It set the stage for City’s eventual crushing victory with lam McFaul on the receiving end of a five-goal hammering for the second successive game.
Tueart picks up the tale of that blistering game to say: “I said at the time that our second half performance was the best all-round display it has been my pleasure to take part in.”It started when I got my second goal and the team’s third. Joe Royle took up
possession in the inside left position about ten yards inside their own half. “I came round from the left in front of him, he knocked the ball into my path and I started for goal. “On the way there I think I must have gone past three defenders and then drove the ball past McFaul as he advanced from his line. It was one of the most satisfying goals I have scored, bettered only by the flying overhead kick that brought me one against Norwich in the opening match of this season.
“The third goal in that game against Newcastle came when I was in the inside right position about 35 yards from goal. I started to move towards their penalty area, went past Alan Kennedy as he raced to tackle and then saw my shot go in off the
inside of a post. it was my first hat-trick for City-I hope there’s more to come.
