From The Brentford Programme 28th January 1989
… After a quiet start the game flares into life when Hopkins fires Brentford ahead in the 35th minute.
Just before the break Duncan McKenzie and City’s Eric Brook are sent off and with Arthur Bateman little more than a passenger The Bees are up against it.
In the second half City take command. Owen equalises. Mathieson then makes a tremendous save from Tilson’s penalty kick before Marshall hammers home the winner from 20 yards.
