PETER GARDNER’S ‘VERDICT’ FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 31ST JANUARY 1976
A tragic Joe Corrigan error handed Leicester the initiative as City battled bravely to contain the lively home side at Filbert Street this afternoon.
Up to that point the Blues had fought a stubborn defensive battle with Dave Watson, back in action after injury, and Mike Doyle commanding in the middle.
However the football rarely reached a high pitch in difficult conditions.
Stretched at the back for most of the time the Blues never really showed as an attacking force although Asa Hartford tried manfully to get his side moving smoothly.
