City controlled the game for the first Quarter of an hour, the first chance came with excellent work by Shaun Wright-Phillips on the left cutting the ball back for Stevie Ireland who’s shot from 8 yards was blocked
In the 18th minute Ireland was put through one on one with the Chief’s keeper who made a good save from 10 yards
Then a good run into the box by Gareth Barry, on his debut, ended in a tame shot easily saved and three minutes later he cut into the area again and had another low shot easily saved.
within a minute the Chiefs had their first chance when from six yards a shot hit the side netting..
then a good shot from 25 yards was beaten out by Taylor in 35th minute.
City made there dominance count in the last minute of the first half a good run down the right by Etuhu ended with a low cross in to the box where captain Ireland despatched the ball into the net from 6 yards.
The second half was again dominated by City, Petrov looking lively with a great run and far post cross which Wright-Phillips acrobatically shot wide without troubling the keeper
The first chance of the second half came in the 80th minute as Moyaumi shot wide from just 8 yards and 3 minutes later a volley from Sweswe was also just wide.
Etuhu squandered a great chance with two minutes to go as he took the ball around the keeper and then blasted the ball well wide, obviously very tired.
