Without a win in five matches Joe Mercer dropped George Heslop and Neil Young and gave a full debut to young Tommy Booth in the hope that the trip to Leeds Road in the League Cup could restart the season for the Champions.
Unfortunately Huddersfield were by far the better team, most of the City side weren’t at the races bar Francis Lee and Ken Mulhearn, who’s excellent saves gave the Blues another chance with a replay they didn’t really deserve.
