Another poor performance in London ended with a third successive defeat for City at Selhurst Park.
A powerful Palace side gained both points for the first time this season courtesy of City youngster Colin Barrett. Early in the second half Kellard broke down the wing and his viscious low cross, Barrett in an effort to clear, stuck out a leg and diverted the ball over Corrigan and into his own net.
The Blues should have equalised, however Francis Lee’s penalty kick was parried out by Jackson, who then also saved Lee’s follow up shot

  1. John Jackson was immense in goal that night…and that season for Palace. It may be 50 years ago but I remember the penalty save clearly!!

  2. I was at this match aged 10. I have been trying to find reports of this match for years now as I always had it in my mind that Frannie missed 2 penalties in this match. The 2 things I remember about this night was having a Palace fan stood behind us continously shouting in a very posh voice “Come on you Ps” and the chippy near the ground not knowing what mushy peas were.
