FRANCIS LEE BAGS THE EQUALISER

After their shock exit from the FA Cup, City put up a great display against a hard working Crystal Palace to take both points despite going behind after ten minutes at Selhurst Park.
Joe Corrigan, who has looked a little nervous in his handling over the last few games, was totally at fault for the goal. The Glaziers’ Bobby Tambling hit a fine shot which Joe got both hands to, but inexplicably the ball went straight through them and into the net.
City didn’t let the goal affect them and played some free flowing football which culminated in a great finish by Franny Lee from a lobbed pass from Colin Bell.
After the break Tambling could have put Palace back in the lead but he shot wide after being put through on goal. City didn’t really allow the home side any more chances and it was the ever dangerous Mike Summerbee that made the winner with less than 15 minutes left. He hit a low shot, come cross, that the unlucky Mel Blyth deflected into his own net and the points were all City’s.
