Hat-trick kid Steve Whitton stopped Manchester City dead in their tracks at Maine Road this afternoon.
The Coventry striker wasted no time in showing just who was boss as the Blues nosedived to a 3-1 defeat in their final home game of the season.
Whitton struck twice inside a minute when he beat City’s stand-in ‘keeper Alex Williams in the fifth and sixth minutes.
Then, with the home side unable to force openings up front. Whitton put the icing on the cake for Coventry by completing his treble after 70 minutes.
… City had little to cheer about and it was left to England ace Trevor Francis, the subject of transfer speculation, to claim their consolation goal after 78 minutes.
