Paul Power is Manchester City’s latest casualty, and that increases concern for manager Billy McNeill with the big kick off just a week away.
The Blues’ skipper went off after an hour of last night’s 3-1 defeat by Fourth Division Blackpool at Bloomfield Road with a problem.
However, McNeill is confident Power will be fit for the opening game at Crystal Palace a week tomorrow.
Said McNeill: “While it was disappointing to lose so near the end, perhaps this game may be a warning bell for the difficult programme that faces us this season. It also gives us an indication of how shallow we are in strength when missing a few important players. However, I would have traded the half dozen games we played in Germany and Holland for just a couple mor matches like last night. We now know what our problems are and the aim must be to quickly correct our mistakes.”…

  1. Blackpool had a young winger named Alex Dyer recently signed from manager Sam Ellis` former club Watford playing in this game who gave the City defenders a torrid 90mins.
