This was my first game to watch City @ Maine Road in the main stand.I was 10 years old.I am now 80 and a current season ticket holder.I played amateur football in my younger days at Syal FC with Eric Alexander who became City Chairman following eventually his father. I remember at half time my dad took his flask out and let me have a sip of something strong (whisky!). The seating was wooden strips set into context. The Kippax and the North Stand were not covered in those days. Before this game and before the war circa 1938, I was taken to Blackpool to try and cure my whooping cough. We went out in a boat, my mother felt sick, so I was handed to Frank Swift who was in charge of the boat. This was his summer job as players were not paid by the clubs in the close season.Thank you to City fan David North for this great contribution
