Glyn Pardoe made a happy return to the Manchester City team last night in the 0-0 friendly against Olympiakos in Athens.
Playing his first senior game since breaking a leg 16 months ago, he looked safe and solid at full-back in a team which sadly missed England squad men, Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Rodney Marsh.
Tommy Booth came closest to scoring for City when he headed against a post.
The 35,000 crowd in the Karaiskakis Stadium three miles south of Athens must have been disappointed with City’s first half show.
The emphasis was firmly on defence and it was Olympiakos who made all the early running.
But in the second half, with Tony Towers working busily in midfield, City began to show their best form and spent most of the final 45 minutes deep on attack…
