City twice came from behind to earn a First Division point at Hillsborough with a late equaliser denying Wednesday victory.
The Owls had a flying start with Albert Quixall striking in unorthodox fashion when his cross was fumbled over the line by Bert Trautmann after just five minutes.
City hit back when Joe Hayes netted three minutes before the break only for Wednesday to gain their lead almost immediately when Keith Ellis headed in Quixalls centre within 60 seconds. Jim McAnearney hit an upright and Wednesday were left to rue that near miss when Roy Paul hammered in a free-kick in the 87th minute.
