PETER GARDNERS VERDICT IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 10TH MARCH 1973
City gave another frustrating display when they did everything but score the goals their territorial superiority demanded. And Coventry emerged as the more disciplined and effective side to win 2-1.
A Tommy Booth equaliser to Willie Carr’s 20th minute goal looked like being the spur City needed, but within four minutes Colin Stein had re-established Coventry’s command and from that point City faced a desperate battle that that was not made easier by their own short comings.
Rodney Marsh, moves ahead of everyone else, and Mike Summerbee at times played Coventry on their own, for Colin Bell had another nightmare match, missing two great chances.
