A makeshift City were in total control of the game and when Kenny Burns lashed out at Age Hareide’s face he was duly sent for an early bath by referee Martin, leaving Hareide needing stitches in a nasty facial wound, and with Leeds down to ten men it seemed only a matter of time before John Bond’s men took the lead.
City’s problem was their lack of fire power, without injured Dennis Tueart and Trevor Francis the Blues looked lightweight up front with Kevin Reeves and the youngster Gary Jackson struggling to make anything of City’s dominance.
In the second half Leeds came in to the game more and caused City’s defence a few problems, however with just seven minutes left Kevin Reeves headed in to give City all the points.
