DENNIS TUEART GRABS ALL THREE POINTS FOR CITY
FROM THE PRESS BOX
BOB RUSSELL WRITING IN THE DAILY MIRROR 7TH DECEMBER 1981
You could forgive Villa boss Ron Saunders for thinking that all he ever got from Manchester City was a raw deal.
But rough as it is was on ex-City boss Saunders seeing Dennis Tueart, one of his original Maine Road signings, pop up for the controversial 69th minute winner, it was also justice.
Forget the argument that referee Don Shaw should have delayed the quick-fire goal producing free kick while Villa midfield man Des Bremner apparently in a bad way.
“Bremner needed four stitches in his scalp yet City were allowed to take the free kick,” moaned Saunders.
Tueart said:”Ron was going to be upset losing here under any circumstances, but there’s no point in the finger on us or the referee.”
