FROM THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 9TH APRIL 1983
City put up a fighting show at Stoke before going down 1-0 to a Sammy McIlroy goal.
The Blues had ‘keeper Alex Williams to thank for keeping them in the picture in the first half when he saved superbly from Paul Bracewell.
But City’s resistance finally snapped when Bracewell did the spadework for ex-Manchester United striker McIlroy to score.
