DAVID CROSS SCORES ON HIS HOME DEBUT
FROM THE PRESS BOX
Manchester City registered their second win in five days with a gift goal against Stoke City in the 47th minute. McAughtrie was the culprit when he lost control of a harmless ball and allowed Cross to nip in and slip into the Stoke net. Stoke showed more adventure than their struggling team of last season and Chamberlain, signed from Port Vale, was their outstanding player. The visitors were unlucky not to equalize then a long shot from O’Callaghan beat Corrigan but the ball hit the upright and bounced back into the goalkeepers hands. But City also rattled the Stoke Woodwork twice through McDonald and Power. Four minutes from the end Stoke were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Bond appeared to handle a cross from Chaimberlain
