PAUL STEWART MAKES HIS DEBUT
FROM THE PRESS BOX
CHRIS BRIERLEY WRITING IN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS FOOTBALL PINK FINAL 21ST MARCH 1987
Striker Paul Stewart added some fire and brimstone to Manchester City’s lightweight attack at Maine Road this afternoon.
But the £200,000 midweek signing from Blackpool could not find the scoring touch in the Blues’ relegation battle against Newcastle.
City played their best football for weeks with Stewart forging an impressive partnership with Imre Varadi but the match ended 0-0 and a bitter disappointment for the fans.
