Manchester City slumped to their fifth home defeat on the trot when they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa in the Second Division crunch game this afternoon.
Villa, with the best away record in the League, scored their first goal after 14 minutes through Tony Daley, playing his first game for four months after a pelvic injury.
It was tough on City who had matched Villa stride for stride with £225,000 new boy Trevor Morley showing some neat touches.
Morley went close to grabbing a debut goal just before the interval when he raced onto a Paul Stewart pass to shoot just wide.
Then a close range header by Morley was hacked off the line by Villa defenders.
But it was all over for the Blues after 72 minutes when Garry Thompson climbed above the City defence to head home the second which put Villa on course for their 11th away win of the season.
