In an entertaining game at White Hart Lane played in dank cold conditions, Osborne and Dimmock were prominent for Spurs and Marshall and Brook pulled the strings for The Citzens.
Just before the break Marshall hit the Spurs post but Toseland reacted quickly and despatched the rebound past Spurs keeper Spiers to put The Blues 1-0 up.
After the break Spurs put the pressure on and deservedly equalised with a great individual effort from Osborne. They continued to push forward and took the lead as Cook headed in a centre from Thompson.
With City down to ten men when Ridley was withdrawn due to injury, Spurs looked to put the tie to rest and they should have, but Harper failed to convert a cross from Osborne, from a couple of yards, when it was easier to score.
With just minutes left on the clock, Cowan was the City hero as his long shot evaded the Spurs’ custodian to equalise. City nearly stole the match in the last minute but a cracking drive from Brook hit the underside of the bar and back into play.
