YAYA TOURE SCORES CITY’S FIRST
City put aside any reported off field problems with a great win at the Boleyn Ground.
In the first five minutes Jo had a shot saved by Green and a close in effort by Balotelli crept passed The Hammer’s post.
The game then settled down with little action in front of goal. Just short of the half hour a snood wearing YaYa Toure beat three men only to see a save from Green.
Minutes later Gareth Barry cut back the ball to the big Ivoriian on the edge of the area and Yaya smashed the ball passed Green to put City 1-0 up.
City were in complete control and before the break Balotelli had a header cleared off the line, and West Ham were lucky to be 1-0 down at half time.
five minutes into the second half Yaya Toure broke clear but his powerful shot was direct at Green.
West Ham were desperate to get back into the game but they struggled to get a shot on target. On the hour an unhappy Mario Balotelli was substituted by Adam Johnson and the Italian youngster walked straight to the changing room in disgust.
City were easily soaking up the pressure from West Ham and with just over a quarter of an hour left Nigel Dejong robbed Spector in the City half and sent Yaya Toure clar on the left, Man of the match Toure easily beat Tomkins in the area and smashed a shot passed Green, the ball struck the post but unluckily for the West Ham custodian the ball rebounded into the net off his back.
Mancini’s team were in total control as the clock ticked down, and Adam Johnson made it a comprehensive victory as he took a magnificent slide rule pass from David Silva in his path and rounded the keeper to slot home from six yards.
With a minute to go West Ham grabbed a consolation goal as Tomkins headed home from a corner.
ADAM JOHNSON MAKES IT 3-1
