Nicky Reid is back to square one in his bid to clinch a regular Manchester City first team place.
A damaged thigh seems certain to keep him out of tomorrow’s match in Drogheda.
… Reid limped off at half time in last night’s 4-1 victory over the amateurs from Waterford, their first victory of the pre-season build up.
That will sabotage manager Billy McNeill’s plans to play Reid along-side Mick McCarthy, who missed the Waterford match because he was in the Eire side for the match against Mexico in Dublin.
Said Reid today: “Naturally I am disappointed at picking up an injury at this stage of our preparations. Now I’ll just have to rest for a while and see how things go.”
… City revealed a more positive outlook against Waterford, who would have been beaten by an avalanche of goals but for some fine saves by 20 year old David Flavin.
