A debut goal for David Cross in the 77th minute tied up a well—earned win in an exciting final half—hour, the striker taking his chance at the far post after a fine run and cross from Kevin Reeves.
Tommy Caton opened the scoring before the break when he unleashed a typical 20-yarder following Asa Hartford’s free kick, touched on by Kevin Bond. Then Paul Power shot home off the inside of a post in the 49th minute after Hartford had cleverly weaved the ball down the right.
The closing stages were stolen once more by Corrigan with a series of brilliant saves that drew rich applause from the home fans. He was finally beaten 10 minutes from time when Bochum netted a consolation through Woelk with a neat chip.
Power was subbed by Bobby McDonald on the hour after collecting his second booking in tour games, a wise precaution when he earned a final warning from the referee.
