MATCH REPORT FROM THE SUNDAY TRIBUNE 14TH JANUARY 1990
Colin Hendry came up with an FA Cup repeat to rescue a point for Manchester City ten minutes from time.
It was in the 80th minute of the 3rd round replay at Millwall on Tuesday night that £700,000 centre back Hendry headed the goal that gave City a second bite.
This time he stabbed home after a header by substitute Wayne Clarke to continue a depressing sequence of home results for Spurs.
Tottenham had gone in front just a minute before the interval when David Howells jumped highest in a crowded goalmouth to plant home a deep cross by stand-in captain Chris Hughton.
City goalkeeper Andy Dibble produced a splendid save to keep out Steve Sedgley but upgraded their attacking ambitions in the second half once Clarke , manager Howard Kendall’s latest signing, replaced former £1M Tottenham striker Clive Allen.
Hughton cleared a dangerous Clarke effort away from the line as Spurs came under increasing pressure and Hendry’s goal was inevitable.
