Tony Book will stand by his most experienced side for Manchester City’s opening League match at Leicester on Saturday.
Despite the late burst by England youth international winger Peter Barnes, the Maine Road boss will keep the team that played one and a half games on the Spanish tour which saw the Blues gain third place in the Columbina tournament…
… Barnes burst back into first team reckoning with a dazzling 15 minute as a sub against Real Betis of Seville here last night.
Showing pace and flair on the wing, he laid on City’s equalising goal for Joe Royle four minutes from the end of another stamina-draining game in burning heat.
The outcome was settled in the penalty competition which City won 4-3, Joe Corrigan finishing the hero with two great saves…
