Moshe Sinai, an lsraeli international, made an unexpected debut for the Blues after the winger received clearance from the PA. he created City`s best early chance which allowed Kevin Reeves to cross to the far post and David Cross to direct a fine header which the keeper tipped against the underside of the bar before it flew to safety.
For the opening 20 minutes City looked good and created chances with enterprise. But in the 35th minute Olympiakos scored through Anastopoulos, the striker turning inside Ray Ranson and Andy May to fire past joe Corrigan from 6 yards.
ln the 78th minute Xanthopoulos, one of several home substitutes, clinched the game when he finished off a left-wing cross from Lemonis at the near post.
City‘s midfield gave a stubborn display and second half sub Chris Jones made himself a couple of chances to brighten the gloom of another tour defeat.
However, City will not be allowed to pursue their interest in Sinai because he is unable to obtain a work permit, coming as he does from a country outside the Common Market.
