Paul Power sent Manchester City on the way to their fourth successive win under new boss John Bond at Maine Road this afternoon.
The Blues skipper was on target with a rocket shot after 60 minutes against Norwich, the club Bond left to take over at Maine Road.
But Power’s first goal of the season was one of the few highlights in an otherwise drab encounter which saw both sides employing defensive tactics.
City had Joe Corrigan to thank for keeping out a cunning shot from Joe Royle, his old club and country colleague, in the first half.
And the Blues’ task was made no easier when they had both Dave Bennett and Tommy Hutchison injured in the first period.
Hutchison, making his home debut, struggled on before being replaced by £1.5M substitute Steve Daley after the resumption.
