TAKEN FROM AN ARTICLE ‘TEN YEARS AGO…’ BY JOHN MADDOCKS IN THE CITY PROGRAMME 3RD SEPTEMBER 1978
…Peter Barnes and defender Willie Donachie retumed for this match, but the expected appearance of Colin Viljoen didn‘t materialise.
…The Blues were determined to come away from Carrow Road with some reward for their efforts. They gained a point with which they were reasonably pleased, and also five bookings, somewhat less pleasing.
Peters effectively controlled the first half for the home team but the interval arrived with them only one goal in front. It came a minute before the interval when Chivers headed past Joe Corrigan, the City defence (and possibly Chivers) half-expecting an offside whistle.
Whatever Tony Book said to the players at half-time had quite an effect. Norwich found a firmer barrier in Paul Futcher, Barnes turned up the tempo of his game, and an equaliser was surely on the cards. It duly arrived after 62 minutes. Kenny Clements made considerable ground down the right, centred, and in raced Mick Channon to score his first League goal of the season off an obliging post.
