MATCH REPORT FROM THE DAILY MIRROR 19TH MARCH 1990
Former rocket engineer Iain Dowie almost exploded about the penalty that got away in this relegation struggle at Kenilworth Road.
The Luton striker was bearing down on goal like a guided missile four minutes before half-time when he was pulled back by defender Alan Harper.
Dowie protested bitterly to referee Brian Hill. “It was an obvious penalty. I don’t know where the referee was looking,” he said.
Luton had to wait until 17 minutes from time for their penalty breakthrough when skipper Danny Wilson scored.
With ten minutes to go, City salvaged a point when Clive Allen scored from the spot after Richard Harvey had fouled winger David White.
