Although Aage Hareide only got 30 minutes worth of action when he came on as a second half substitute, he had the delight of scoring past his fellow countrymen. But the Blues showed they were ring-rusty in this opening match of the busy pre-season schedule against a team already mid-way through their season.
The Norwegian Cup holders, with three players absent through injury, took hold of the match when 17 year old Bjamer Erlandsen netted a 37th minute debut goal. His 15 yard shot caught Joe Corrigan on the hop.
Lillestrorn increased the lead through Roger Sjasted on the 65th minute when he swooped onto a giant goalkick from his own ’keeper, Bjarte Hem. He headed over Corrigan after nipping between the City giant and a Blues defender.
Ray Ranson, one of the few successes of the night along with Tommy Caton, supplied the cross for Hareide to head the consolation goal 3 minutes later.
