It was a score that flattered Leeds, City played some good football on the usual hot day that accompanies the season opener.
For the first quarter of an hour Bernarbia and Berkovic looked comfortable in midfield and The Blues looked in control until Nick Barmby stabbed home a Lee Bowyer cross to put Leeds in front.
The Blues kept pushing forward and had chances through Foe and Anelka, however just before half-time Barmby threaded a perfect pass through for Viduka to run on to and slam the ball passed City custodian Nash.
The second half was less memorable apart from a delightful Robbie Keane lob ten minutes from time which completed the 3-0 win for Leeds.
