Nicky Reid and Barry Silkman made their City League debuts at Ipswich on 31st March, a game which the Blues lost 1-2, the highlight of the afternoon for City fans being Silkman’s goal.
Ipswich went in front after 24 minutes, Dutch international Thijssen crossing perfectly for Geddis to score, and just before the break Brazil took advantage of Corrigan’s mad gallop from his line to slide the ball past the oncoming City ‘keeper.
Silkman’s goal? He killed a long ball out of defence after Woods had lost it, sent Butcher totally the wrong way, then took advantage of ‘keeper Cooper’s rooted position yards from goal to lob him from fully 30 yards.
