… On the eve of the game Howard explained that he’d be putting Reidy and Meggo in midfield, and revealed that he’d be utilizing five at the back, with Alan Harper playing between Steve Redmond and Colin Hendry, and Ian Brightwell and Andy Hinchcliffe assuming deep wing back roles. i’d be playing on the left, with Trevor Morley deployed on the opposite flank and Clive Allen operating down the middle.
The lads looked really solid at Goodison Park that day, Howard had made it our priority to stop conceding goals, and we came out with a creditable 0-0 draw. The City fans weren’t convinced however, bellowing “We all agree Bishop is better than Megson” from the away end. Winning over the supporters was not going to be easy either for the manager or Meggo.
