REPORT FROM IRELAND’S SATURDAY NIGHT 14TH DECEMBER 1985
Manchester City romped to their biggest League win of the season in a game they dominated from start to finish.
Gordon Davies opened the scoring in the 18th minute, but Coventry were not breached again until the 44th minute when Graham Rodger header Paul Simpson’s shot into his own net.
Davies scored his second in the 56th minute, before Terry Gibson pulled a goal back for Coventry 16 minutes later. But two minutes later Mark Lillis netted Manchester’s fourth and Simpson completed the rout five minutes from time.
