Colin Viljoen made his debut for City, and for Chelsea, Duncan McKenzie was also making his first appearance.
City dominated the midfield and Mick Channon put Tony Book’s men into the lead after receiving an excellent ball from debutant Viljoen.
Chelsea were struggling all over the park, Asa Hartford hit the post and then Ron Futcher made it 2-0 with a right footed shot after Mick Channon headed on a long clearance from Joe Corrigan.
And it was Futcher who struck again with a left footed drive past the Chelsea custodian, Bonetti to send City into the half-time break with a 3-0 lead at ‘The Bridge’.
ten minutes into the second half Futcher completed a ‘perfect hat-trick’ this time using his head, he made it 4-0.
Stanley grabbed a consolation goal for Chelsea.
