REPORT FROM THE SUNDAY EXPRESS 26TH OCTOBER 1980
The magic of John Bond is working wonders for Manchester City.
They thrashed Tottenham 3-1 in midweek and pulled off their first away win of the season by beating Brighton 2-1 at the Goldstone Ground despite having their £1.5 million midfield star Steve Daley sent off in the 46th minute.
Daley got his marching orders for kicking the ball away after being booked earlier in the game for dissent.
But then City, parading £325,000 new boys Bobby McDonald and Tommy Hutchison, rolled up their sleeves and old hand Dennis Tueart weighed in with two golden goals to give them victory. Mick Robinson, playing against his former club, grabbed Brighton’s only goal.
