Manchester City’s multi-million pound investment is ready to return a dividend.
Steve Daley and Kevin Reeves were outstanding performers in last night’s impressive 3-1 victory over a skilful Braga side that is fifth in the Portuguese First Division.
Daley, the club’s record signing from Wolves, in particular, provided a display that could prove significant in the months ahead.
… Today Daley told me: “That’s just for starters, I mean business from here on in.”
Reeves was also a revelation as he twisted and turned the Braga defence inside out, taking a lot of physical punishment into the bargain.
However, two superbly taken goals were adequate compensation for the rough ride given to the Blues’ other member of the “millionaire club.”
… Skipper Paul Power said: “Our only problem last night was a lack of concentration at the start. And that’s a valuable lesson that will probably do us a lot of good next season. We paced the game far better than they did and I was particularly pleased at the way the back four held together despite the loss of a goal early on. That was most refreshing.”
