New Manchester City boss John Bond found out the harsh facts of Maine Road life today as the Blues crashed to a disastrous 1-0 defeat against Birmingham City.
An 88th minute penalty by Archie Gemmill keeps City anchored at the foot of the First Division, with just four points, leaving Bond an enormous task in the bid to avoid relegation.
The goal was a sickening blow for Bond, who took over as manager earlier in the week.
Skipper Paul Power was the unhappiest man on the field as his challenge in the penalty area sent Alan Ainscow flting and Gemmill stepped up to drive a shot past Joe Corrigan into the roof of the net.
It leaves City still without a victory after 12 games, and even before the Gemmill goal they had rarely looked liked earning much from a disappointing game…
