TWO GOALS FOR BIRMINGHAM AND IT’S DEFEAT FOR CITY!
…Swashbuckling striker Frank Worthington had been brought in from Bolton midway through the previous season and played his part in the promotion push with four goals from 22 games.
But the skills of Blues’ talented number nine were undoubtedly more suited to the top level and Worthington had notched his 16th goal of the season in the midweek 1-0 win over another of the FA Cup semi-finalists, Wolves.
The 32-year-old former England international added to his tally just nine minutes into the clash against City, scoring in impressive style with a powerful right-footed shot from just inside the area,
And once Tony Evans had doubled Blues’ advantage only eight minutes later with another fine finish, the result never looked in doubt.
